Anna May Mangan and I lived in the same road. She  read her draft novel to us when she was a novice and came back to read us extracts and sell it to us once she launched it. She set it up on a table and asked for feedback. I said she should show the price, because epople might hesitate to touch it or look inside, fearing it would be too expensive and not wanting to disappoint themselves or be embrrassed if they could not afford it or did not have enough cash.
